Jewelry Exposition 2008

Yaaaaaaay! It's finally here, the second annual Jewelry Exposition hosted by my very good friend, Miriel Enfield. She's been through an awful lot of headaches to arrange as lag free and pleasant expo experience as possible, and so far, from what I've seen, wildly succeeded. So I just want to put a thank you to her, right at the top, for hosting it and organizing it again this year. Your hand is very evident as I move about the sim and things are taking only seconds to rez.

Originally, the expo folks had taken a vote on whether to do an Arabian Nights theme or a water theme, and water won. Apparently, not in my reality.

Remember this?

For ages I've had "remake sculpted, good veils without alpha flicker" on my to-do list. Especially remaking this Suleika veil, which, until I retired it, was my favorite and best selling veil. As lovely as it was, it just wasn't good enough to withstand my vicious scrutiny.

So the veil is back, and it brought matching accessories! A necklace, earrings, and arm cuffs can now go with the delicate tracery of chains. I end up having to keep answering "yes, they're prims!". The size may seem unreal, because I used a very diminutive chain link made by Miriel (yes, that Miriel, is my love for her obvious? I'm unashamed) which allows me to go even smaller than Aminom's lovely chains.

If you're noticing up top where it says that it's no transfer, don't worry, you still will have your options to get transfer/copy with the individual pieces, which are available underneath the main board. That picture up there is for the fatpack, and so like all of my fatpacks it's only mod/copiable. The different pieces you can get are the necklace and earrings (together), the veil, the headpiece or a pair of the arm cuffs.

It's scripted to change to six different metal textures, as well as twelve different stone and scarf colors. The scarf was a real struggle with me, I've never been comfortable with textures and I was scraping texture resources and stock photos looking for something I could use. In my venting my frustration, my lovely fiance offered to hand paint a texture for me. He had made banners for some of his friends and so he just modified it beautifully for me, and then I took care of the colors. So yay Siyu's man!

Anyway, Suleika wasn't the only thing to come from my head being stuck in a middle eastern fantasy. The first piece I did was actually just playing with sculpted pieces I had created in hopes of making headdresses. The results were surprising, and beautiful.

This sort of thing makes me happy. Danglies, tiny prims, little frilly bits, shiny things, all coming together to accent the beauty of your virtual expression of self. So this is why I made a few more, 'cause I can't help myself.

Now, already and just from wearing this around my circle of friends, I've had suggestions, requests, pleads and desperate supplications for me to make matching silks for these. I have to speak plainly that the likelihood of that happening right now is very low. I have quite a bit to do before Halloween and then I'll be simscaping Dreams Anubis's place, and then figuring out what I'm doing for the holiday season. So maybe if you're lucky good girls and boys, you'll have silks under the tree :)

Well, even if you're not necessarily going to be good, you'll still get a present at my stall. I've set out a remake of a design I first made three months after my rezday, which even then I didn't feel was good enough to put out in my humble little establishment. It's had a long hard road to freebiedom my friends, but finally it can be worn and enjoyed in its newfound sculpted glory.

(The pendant, I just took this with the veil as a nice excuse to be pretty). It's texture change like the other pieces, and can sort of serve as a demo for the stones and metals :)

Oh, yes, and about that. I've changed the textures for the metals, so there are new colors. The copper and gold aren't quite the same as my other jewelry and items, but obviously they're pretty close. I added a new color, rose gold, which looks beautiful with the red, and absolutely overflowing in estrogen with the pink scarf.

These items are only available at the Jewelry Exposition until the end of this week, when they'll be set out on the store wall :)

Shady Madness

Today has just been a day for surprising my update group and getting things done. I've gotten some pretty fun things done today!!

For one, I have re-released Suleika with new veil textures and plugged it into the new vendor, ZOMG you can now get any color you like, rather than having to buy it in a full color pack!

Yeah it's still the same picture, it's just too darn pretty. But this one has words. Yeah. I changed the scarf texture but not enough to be an issue. I also made an extremely awesome color board, with stone samples and scarf samples so you can see exactly what you're getting ^.^

But really this post is all about one thing. One thing that is sure to steal the show, anywhere you go, and any where it's seen. It's divine, it's ridiculous, it's larger than life and it's just too much. It had to be done, and it had to be done by me. I've made the Mad Hatter's Hat.

This picture brings such a big grin to my face!!

Sculpted and with a flexi feather... This thing is just outrageous in the best sense of the word. I wanted a sort of gothic vibe to it, and black and white are absolutely classic. When I announced it to my update group I sold 5 in about 3 minutes, because they are just THAT irresistable. If you're wondering about the 10/6 on the card tucked into the brim, it means ten shillings and six pence, which was the average price of a hat back then. So essentially the Mad Hatter still has his price tag on. Don't worry though, I haven't made it 1060L, and 106L would just be unfair to me :( But it's 275 and includes the matching bowtie.... The term "Mad as a Hatter" actually comes from a very common occurence of the time. Many milliners worked with mercury when curing the felt of their hats, and the mercury poisoning would cause delusions, hallucinations, distorted speech and vision and all around kooky things that would be lumped under the term of "madness". But I took the Mad Hatter hat as an invitation to just be eccentric, ridiculous, and a tad macabre.

I've also finally released the Victorian Parasol I mentioned way way way way way back when. Remember that? I fixed the issues it was having after I sent it away to be scripted.

So here it is again, available for just 125L :) It opens and closes on touch, has an animation override to keep it on your shoulder, and simply is the perfect accessory for any gothic or victorian outfit. Especially cute little EGLoli's ^.^

Face Veil Face Lift

I did a quick touch up on the Sumptuous Veil today, actually completely remade it but believe me, it looks better now! Just your 45L is now that much more of a bargain ^.^

It's actually a huge project, going over my old inventory. Touching it up, reviewing the build, retexturing and then packaging it back up for my new vendors. I've got new silk textures and fun new colors (including the scandalously rarely seen cyan. You guys remember cyan? Crazy days...) and it's been extremely slow going getting all that stuff out. The sumptuous veil was the quickest, easiest, nicest... I love it so, now you can too.

So despite the lack of bloggage, I actually have been a busy little Siyu. I've completed a commission for the Hindu god Garuda, and even a very special release for Sunday. In case you want a clue, there's something I've only ever released on Sundays that happens to be special... so if you know me you know the answer and oop! yes your heart is now beating faster with excitement!! As well it should... it's totally worth it.

I've also been working on the new improved Bauta, and I was going to post it tonight of all things and then noticed about 10-20 things I wanted to change... and I'm tired dangnabbit. But the Bauta is more than a mask this time... let's just say the men have their turn!

Domino Venetzia

A pet project of mine has always been attempting to make cloaks, but they have always been sad victims of my stringent perfectionism. But bless sculpted prims, I've finally been able to make something that I'm willing to sell. Mind you, I could tweak these for an eternity and still not be happy with them (the flexi is too tight, that part falls too short, that length needs to be changed, that collar part needs to be moved). BUT... I know myself, and I know that I can be happy with it if I sell it right this instant.

I present to you proudly the Domino Venetzia. A Domino wasn't always a plastic thing you knocked down to make other plastic things get knocked down, in Venice in the 1700's it was the ultimate lady's disguise. It was a combination of a mask that covered the entire face, and a voluminous cloak that would only show the stylishness of the manner in which you were dressed. It was used so that women could indulge in secret trysts, or even go out to bars and have a riotous good time without ever having to suffer damage to their delicate, refined reputation. It was the ultimate shroud of mystery.

For my domino, I have constructed the clasp, cowl and hood entirely out of sculpted prims, and used the Columbina Venetzia as a jumping off point to add a delicate flexi veil. My proudest piece of this, is actually the textures. I've never made my own textures before (except random uploaded pictures of stuff, and edited random pictures of stuff... and UV wrapped textures made in Zbrush), so I'm extra proud of these. I actually took a picture of my sculpted prims in world, put them against a gradient background and then fitted them to be the proper size for long flexi prims! That way they were all sure to match... and sure enough, the cloak trim, veil trim, and mask trim are all in perfect harmony. Hurraaay!

I'd also like to share that I have completed, finally, and god I mean finally, converting all of my rose creations to the new 20 colors. May I live long and not have to do that sort of damn thing again.

The All Color options are only available as copy, as obviously I do have to protect myself and I want to be able to offer an extremely deep discount for people who want more than one color in their life. Most of my all color packs have been set at the price of one X3, so that's when it becomes worth your while to get the bunch! But I realized that if I sold them transferable... I could be very easily suffering some losses there ^^; So it's best to be safe rather than sorry :) You can still IM me as always for gifts or giftcards.

Speaking of giftcards, I've been trying to figure out a way I might instigate them. More news on that soon :)

Isis: The Egyptian Collection

Please say hello to my first themed release. So far, it only has one thing in it, but my my... what an item:

I almost don't think I need to say anything, do I? Aside from this lucious set containing ten seperate pieces, and three different unique fits to try to cater to all shapes, this picture speaks for itself. Truly worthy of a goddess, it's simple and classic design is deceptive, because it contains over 700 prims. No matter if you like the picture, it doesn't change the fact that it has to be SEEN, so my good friend Mourna will be a beautiful sculpted model for all to see from about 10pm SLT to 4pm SLT. All together it's been more hours than I actually know, and this labor of love, my very first set of silks, is being sold in the Egyptian pavilion for 1200.

Why did I call this release a collection then? Well, aside from the various pieces of jewelry included with the set (and possibly sold seperately as well), I am working in my little corner on quite the Egyptian set, which will be Stargatalicious. I see in the future a Tutenkhamen headdress, and Anubis, Horus and Bastet masks. Time to start saving up lindens now ;)

Suleika Veil

Suleika, in arabic, means "daughter of the sultan", and this is truly a veil worthy of royalty. My current pride and joy, and the result of more hours of work than I'll readily admit, is this:

It's available in three different metals, silver, tarnished silver (black), and gold .
Each of those metals has a color pack available for 1200, that includes 8 different unique stones, with colored veils to match! If you'd like to tint the veils yourself, you can buy the veil in black or white for 650 each (which come with Howlite and Onyx as their stones). As always, they are mod/copy/no transfer, and if I do say so myself, the prim work is just divine. The headpiece skipped under the link limit at 248, and the veil is 189.

I'm willing to sell the individual stones/colors out of my inv, but I'm not loading up my vendor with all of those buggers! Feel free to IM me, I don't eat avatars whole ^.^ (just minced ;)
