I was rummaging in my file folders for abandoned projects and found this charming, unreleased Halloween Batty mask which was perfect for the season. <br /></p><p><br /></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvWfcqIUpHUWm-eok8WNRZz6cShpEkXrsfU3BOGlYHr_usSGc3WUaAM3dQDUlAADXp3tmHLlODN5UWo_YyBfbkRcf-lXLUVd55FnLJYmEx1F5EJ1T-EB8JEhgXDzmuEIHjjNKSMw13bm7lsCOIJy5iM-98PXfbLjfCeK12FnHfZ0sld51Ani1dO80S7E68/s750/Batty%20Mask.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvWfcqIUpHUWm-eok8WNRZz6cShpEkXrsfU3BOGlYHr_usSGc3WUaAM3dQDUlAADXp3tmHLlODN5UWo_YyBfbkRcf-lXLUVd55FnLJYmEx1F5EJ1T-EB8JEhgXDzmuEIHjjNKSMw13bm7lsCOIJy5iM-98PXfbLjfCeK12FnHfZ0sld51Ani1dO80S7E68/w640-h448/Batty%20Mask.jpg" width="640" /></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I had some architectural elements I created when, once upon a time, I thought I would actually finish a new sim build (pour one out for broken dreams), and realized they could find a new life here. I have another release, just in time for October, and for <a href="https://fallengodsinc.blogspot.com/2023/10/16th-anniversary-market.html">Fallen Gods' 16th anniversary</a> celebration. Unlike me, the distinguished Mr. Baroque never took a multi-year hiatus which makes his achievement certainly worth celebrating. He and his partner were kind enough to invite me to have a spot in the marketplace on Selidor and that was good motivation for me to finish up a project I've been working on in drips and drabs.</p><p>Something that surprised me, once I started paying attention to my market listings again, is that of all the things that I sell in my store one of my <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Illusions-La-Volpe-Rogues-Mask/2312986">old sculpted masks</a> from 2011 (!!) was still selling pretty regularly. While that's quite a compliment, I realized if that's still selling then it's about time people have a mesh option.<br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR9R2aecj0eFs7-aoabM5gRgNZu2ogZT6VKGU9giU2jiXGlSTLv4CWkAEMsJ3bmEzIroLqUGhL9BB4gvpuR33Jbn4Oi9CIsts5EXHDXBx8kXICny0Bg1J6skQ_w_u5CZLDB15wV8AW1UehhifqkP2sBE7coys1I9Nnn-QogOTXG7FEdXIzwFupWuyq5Sgz/s750/2023%20Vendor%20Ladro.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR9R2aecj0eFs7-aoabM5gRgNZu2ogZT6VKGU9giU2jiXGlSTLv4CWkAEMsJ3bmEzIroLqUGhL9BB4gvpuR33Jbn4Oi9CIsts5EXHDXBx8kXICny0Bg1J6skQ_w_u5CZLDB15wV8AW1UehhifqkP2sBE7coys1I9Nnn-QogOTXG7FEdXIzwFupWuyq5Sgz/w640-h448/2023%20Vendor%20Ladro.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p>The Ladro mask is a classic rogue's style bandit mask, made of supple leather and tied behind the head with a knotted cloth. Included is a version of the mask without the sash as well, and two different fits for masculine or feminine faces. One has a pronounced brow and wide forehead, the other has softer features. If that's not enough options for you, I also am trying out something fun with Bakes on Mesh.</p><p>While it's been out for a few years now, Bakes on Mesh is new to me, and after learning about it and seeing what it's all about I decided to experiment with it. I figure everyone else is used to it by now but just in case you're out of touch like me or haven't been paying much attention, here's the basics: When you wear an object, instead of using a texture from inventory, you can now assign it to read a texture from a wearable clothing layer. If you wear both the object and the clothing at the same time, the item looks to the clothing layer for its color information and updates it along with your skin and other worn textures to show the viewer one, "baked on mesh" texture to download. Now, the cool thing about this is that there's virtually no limit to how many clothing layers you can wear, which means that, without any scripts or extra geometry, you can have a tintable base layer underneath a shading and highlight layer, allowing you to infinitely customize the color as you wish.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqxDev0x_UHq7zaQ6jKE0-FamW3ZY-ax4lHO3swyeotV4Kfkg5c0qM7FE8Xj0TGjL-fkiNnAskI9ezY1wI1XqMlyOAzZoto-rqlbGN22TUbMWy3f4bNmNIaeO0evL5vDwGUkUz__yTSSF_EvehM4huZr1I_1oXITSKmPDj0UVV1SdLnI9Ibdw07ApVLT0-/s600/ezgif-5-9e67918f25.gif" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="389" data-original-width="600" height="414" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqxDev0x_UHq7zaQ6jKE0-FamW3ZY-ax4lHO3swyeotV4Kfkg5c0qM7FE8Xj0TGjL-fkiNnAskI9ezY1wI1XqMlyOAzZoto-rqlbGN22TUbMWy3f4bNmNIaeO0evL5vDwGUkUz__yTSSF_EvehM4huZr1I_1oXITSKmPDj0UVV1SdLnI9Ibdw07ApVLT0-/w640-h414/ezgif-5-9e67918f25.gif" width="640" /></a></div><p> </p><p><span> </span>In the past I've considered doing this with actual geometry layers, in fact I did do this with my ears, but decided against it as a common practice because that much extra weight on your character was... well, quite gauche. Now we can have the best of both worlds: any color you'd like, but without losing the fidelity of the texture details. You'll notice, though, that I am also still selling this as a scripted mask with my usual texture choices. I am still experimenting with BoM and not willing to completely swap over just yet. Let me know how this works for you, if it was easy to use, and if you prefer it to the scripts. I think some of my pre-made textures are still nicer than some of the similar colors I got with tinting, but if people really like this I'm willing to start implementing this with existing designs.</p><p>And, before you ask, yes I've been working on this for the elf ears! It's still in progress.</p><p>The Ladro Mask can be exclusively found on <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Selidor/164/105/36">Selidor</a> for the next few days, in the beautiful marketplace there. It will be released more generally on October 5th at my store and at the upcoming <a href="https://secondlife.com/destinations/shop-hop">2023 Halloween Hop and Shop</a>.</p><p><a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Illusions-Ladro-Bandit-Pirate-Mask/25286756">Ladro Bandit Mask: 325L</a><br /></p><p><br /></p>Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-76106178848242003532023-06-23T02:22:00.001-04:002023-06-23T02:22:22.001-04:00Illusions @ the Second Life 20th Birthday Shop & Hop<p>Second Life is turning 20 this year. I remember a time in 2006 where I signed up for this odd not-a-game game, when people who had joined in 2003 seemed like they had been around for <i>ages</i>. I marveled at the venerable last names like Thereian and Midnight. I now get to be one of those dinosaurs I guess, figuratively and literally, as there are some really cool dinosaur avatars out there now. There's actually only eight of us Suens left who show up in search (though I know there may be others with their profiles hidden). It's pretty amazing to me that Second Life has grown and evolved so much in that time and not only stayed active but remained one of the largest virtual worlds out there. I know I've put it aside for a long time but it's actually really cool that it's just been there still doing its thing, improving and advancing.<br /></p><p>Since I missed out on Fantasy Faire, I felt like I should join in the celebration. Illusions is a part of the celebratory SL20B Shop and Hop, and everything at my stall is 20% off! With my long term inactivity, I haven't exactly done any sales in a long time so enjoy it while it lasts!</p><p> </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-aIn5Z1j8mMBxgZDaf6BD9R2AE9l__yqFOTKR1Jw6a4b0ahiOqfhBS0WsMl55af2q3p7y5JTcp4Gq4W7jepGHPaX_XNa1xizZmpRk6k6DRnjQz-hA3wucMVpqap4aR6HHMzY8ZP5W1nQQXcGTJDWDytCUHd-0SCdcptAOBo5QDmZ2yYUA-afTfI3f7suB/s1148/shop%20and%20hop%2020b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="782" data-original-width="1148" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-aIn5Z1j8mMBxgZDaf6BD9R2AE9l__yqFOTKR1Jw6a4b0ahiOqfhBS0WsMl55af2q3p7y5JTcp4Gq4W7jepGHPaX_XNa1xizZmpRk6k6DRnjQz-hA3wucMVpqap4aR6HHMzY8ZP5W1nQQXcGTJDWDytCUHd-0SCdcptAOBo5QDmZ2yYUA-afTfI3f7suB/w640-h436/shop%20and%20hop%2020b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /> <p></p><p><br /></p><p>You can find my stall on the <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Snowflake/29/100/53">Snowflake sim</a> and I've put out a lot of great stuff. It goes until July 11th, so swing on by before then.</p><p><br /></p><p><a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Snowflake/29/100/53">Illusions @ SL20B</a><br /></p><p><br /></p>Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-26822603447286005292023-06-21T22:38:00.002-04:002023-06-21T22:38:49.099-04:00Civetta and Farafallina Curia I'm happy to say that I did get a chance to do as I hoped, and have another Curia mask to share with you all. Two, in fact! <br /><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4l7CxffY_rWSlVsXBEnluCmqSyRg4a1Y_lvorpwGaa2qBcPpUpm20GyFXHAGKPqCKac_Xkli6FlGGi2C6lVwn5T3C_01R0QT3WfLIBOSLz_bsR0yiPYKHV7XpfWpyw7VtxkywGU8Vq0FNTVH__-GLvCW30vzkMbuhux92x9K4ToXRnHncBkVCfW3q1c7-/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Farafallina%20Curia.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4l7CxffY_rWSlVsXBEnluCmqSyRg4a1Y_lvorpwGaa2qBcPpUpm20GyFXHAGKPqCKac_Xkli6FlGGi2C6lVwn5T3C_01R0QT3WfLIBOSLz_bsR0yiPYKHV7XpfWpyw7VtxkywGU8Vq0FNTVH__-GLvCW30vzkMbuhux92x9K4ToXRnHncBkVCfW3q1c7-/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Farafallina%20Curia.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoI-90HX1AD6ieNdaqlSpEfi-WxPujoGi6SonbACoOVOKKulq1fbzrpXhom5mVQMZ3LKJvVSQVgA5OaAYEQR6PyUPCD_O4dHrPxdZWXJlgJOzIavu7zgua_SdmpPn3WyvlO78HG7HkGOe4VFaNOfCCYh-KAHD41ddgCtbcS8K2QHW5i9_lztKFv7q5QRs5/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Civetta%20Curia.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoI-90HX1AD6ieNdaqlSpEfi-WxPujoGi6SonbACoOVOKKulq1fbzrpXhom5mVQMZ3LKJvVSQVgA5OaAYEQR6PyUPCD_O4dHrPxdZWXJlgJOzIavu7zgua_SdmpPn3WyvlO78HG7HkGOe4VFaNOfCCYh-KAHD41ddgCtbcS8K2QHW5i9_lztKFv7q5QRs5/w640-h448/2017%20Vendor%20Civetta%20Curia.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /></div><p>The Civetta Curia was the original partner to the Columbina Curia, and had the same issues with its construction that bothered me. Despite that, it's been the "mascot" mask of my brand for many years, so I'm happy to replace it with this newer version. Again, the geometry is much smoother and more efficient, the shapes a bit more defined, and I got rid of a central element I had been waffling back and forth over. After six or seven years my blog banner could use a refresh, huh?</p><p>Speaking of refreshes, the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Illusions-Farafallina-Simple-Masquerade-Super-Hero-Mask/3145875">Farafallina</a> was the first mesh mask I released, in fact it was the <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2011/10/i-think-its-funny-that-in-2007-when-i.html">first mesh item I ever released</a>, way back in 2011. I was just learning how to do things, and while the geometry was really not that bad, I had sort of goofed on the UV seams. I decided to give it a refresh, give it the "basic mask collection" treatment, and update its color selection to match the other basic masks I have out right now. I ended up adding in those metal textures after all. Of course, if it's going to be a basic mask, it needed a fancier version.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd8GcsJHnPkShe3kBE83FGjzdgHWls0rKwigI1EQh1rNY3CghQI2_GE2RYFkUdMwdsXzT49MdRQMSmn8GA6CnTmJwwC5QMEFSwWqAKvFvcIQ73eRjGQxyhi5tjz8Dy53xuKf3D9FABcFq-4-f7NOByBDuq5jdKGfOQ7EnGsB8jSwCKDR1EY7uZpUfXTmUq/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Farafallina%20Curia.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd8GcsJHnPkShe3kBE83FGjzdgHWls0rKwigI1EQh1rNY3CghQI2_GE2RYFkUdMwdsXzT49MdRQMSmn8GA6CnTmJwwC5QMEFSwWqAKvFvcIQ73eRjGQxyhi5tjz8Dy53xuKf3D9FABcFq-4-f7NOByBDuq5jdKGfOQ7EnGsB8jSwCKDR1EY7uZpUfXTmUq/w640-h448/2017%20Vendor%20Farafallina%20Curia.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p>The Farafallina is slimmer and more delicate than the Civetta, but they were similar enough shapes that it made adapting the pieces pretty simple. I had fun designing and sculpting and tracing pretty swirls all over my new mesh masks. Unfortunately, now that I am looking at all of my mesh items as a collection I realized it's a weak link. As I took new pictures of my masks to update all of my vendors I just couldn't quite get myself to give the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Civetta-Curia/3103742">Civetta</a> and <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Columbina-Curia/3103741">Columbina Curia</a> the same treatment. At the time, I just didn't have the chops to do the concept justice, so I made some clumsy mistakes. </p><p>With the new standardized basic shapes providing a potent platform for pretty permutations, I wanted to revisit the Curia. I opened up some 10(!) year old files and threw my improved skill and experience at a new version to satisfy my insatiable perfectionism.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVTFqE7PvvrQWmxcx_4F1iKIxOZZDEx62TmdMSfl-7Wxe9CX172oNyt72TYzgOkPQP659OOVLjTTSTkHb6olYBv82mA9CKi5Tg9J8wAuP4lvghYlVejnQhuq7ScXye_0s8pQavdnB70srA_HYmPgxZ1GT0JqTOh17HWm7FZ4v8RKug8KRadDjM8Xk_cw/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Columbina%20Curia.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVTFqE7PvvrQWmxcx_4F1iKIxOZZDEx62TmdMSfl-7Wxe9CX172oNyt72TYzgOkPQP659OOVLjTTSTkHb6olYBv82mA9CKi5Tg9J8wAuP4lvghYlVejnQhuq7ScXye_0s8pQavdnB70srA_HYmPgxZ1GT0JqTOh17HWm7FZ4v8RKug8KRadDjM8Xk_cw/w640-h448/2017%20Vendor%20Columbina%20Curia.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />The new Columbina Curia uses the same base mask and color options as the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Columbina-Mask/24697635">basic Columbina</a>, along with my six metal trim colors for the flourishes. The geometry is smoother, the textures are silky smooth, and the mask is a single object now to make fitting much easier and more customizable to your avatar.<br /><p></p><p>For comparison, here is the old version in the same color combo:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiU2tY5F6pBzTdBt9d2JoCTl6Ue0XZC3ojqK3UoVnvFKVZH5V6HbEw2R-yreTl78tdY3xeStRo73dHdeQvBfUcjxNToXmiG8sOXrmtjfVqPeSDtelNuit_58zm5FcnWjEPfNVFhO990W86qRmXJd_zRPITbwftceAINuTzZwgookqj1bYKPy9gybZHaQ/s1090/old%20curia.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="596" data-original-width="1090" height="350" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiU2tY5F6pBzTdBt9d2JoCTl6Ue0XZC3ojqK3UoVnvFKVZH5V6HbEw2R-yreTl78tdY3xeStRo73dHdeQvBfUcjxNToXmiG8sOXrmtjfVqPeSDtelNuit_58zm5FcnWjEPfNVFhO990W86qRmXJd_zRPITbwftceAINuTzZwgookqj1bYKPy9gybZHaQ/w640-h350/old%20curia.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>I won't pretend it's <i>terrible</i>, I can understand it still has some appeal. Where I see the flaws, I know some people might see the charm. The two versions are distinct enough from each other that the old version could be missed if I did away with it completely. Because of this, I'm going to keep the old version for sale, but the vendors will not be updated to the new standard and the prices will be discounted. </p><p>I think it's funny that in that original blog post I predicted that one day I would look back with the "facepalm of hindsight" at this mask. Well, now that we have reached "one day" I will be more kind to myself, and recognize that it held up pretty well considering its age. I just can't help but always want to strive for better.</p><p>Like the Barocco pieces, I plan on creating Curia versions of some of my other basic masks, starting with the Civetta and I'll see where I go from there. </p><p>The new Columbina Curia is out now at my store on the Twilight and on the marketplace.</p><p><a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Illusions-Columbina-Curia-Filigree-Fantasy-Mask/24883412">Columbina Curia: 295L </a><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-5786526639595843792023-05-21T01:30:00.002-04:002023-05-21T01:33:39.314-04:00Civetta and Civetta Barocco<p> I can't explain how or why but in the past month I've had a bug, an itch, to fiddle with things on Second Life. This hasn't happened to me in a long time and I've seized upon it in order to get some things done around here. </p><p>It was long overdue that I update my mesh items to my "new" vendor system<span style="font-size: small;"><i> <span>(from 2017 oh my god how was that six years ago?)</span></i></span><span style="font-size: xx-small;"> </span>and took a good look at my store inventory. I got rid of some things that were still up at the Twilight that I think were truly obsolete and reduced the price on many older sculpted items. I am still in the process of going through those and plan on reducing more items to reflect their vintage. I was happy to see some things still look pretty good in this day and age of fancy bento stuff and newfangled animesh but I still felt like making some tweaks where I could. </p><p>I've added some new colors to the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Bauta-Venetian-Carnival-Mask/21660917">Bauta</a>, <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Mezza-Simple-Half-Face-Mask/24697636">Mezza</a>, and <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Columbina-Simple-Masquerade-Superhero-Mask/24697635">Columbina</a> masks, and their <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/6504/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&search%5Bcategory_id%5D=&search%5Bmaturity_level%5D=GMA&search%5Bkeywords%5D=barocco">Barocco counterparts</a>. I decided to add orange and brown, but since I can't leave well enough alone I also added more metallic options than just the gold and silver so they now have all of my six metal options too. It makes for a very luscious effect and... oh... right... yeah, I made another one. </p><p> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDi65LmwWh_9oCPYV4u4AX3j8Uz3kfTaIa2M9cBELGlXusZVEp52q6t3zyZx2VxFJbSd7sz3x3Chk3Nok0oo5sCOn8zTqyRvf4mBi1hWqZv08F4iC48dTY-XHSgyNxnyBQC1CYgkxGEjHw3FAeFwoifL8-Wo2vZuh9Fgz-4em_D_r941i-OC3rgz2DLQ/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Civetta%20Barocco%20More%20colors.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDi65LmwWh_9oCPYV4u4AX3j8Uz3kfTaIa2M9cBELGlXusZVEp52q6t3zyZx2VxFJbSd7sz3x3Chk3Nok0oo5sCOn8zTqyRvf4mBi1hWqZv08F4iC48dTY-XHSgyNxnyBQC1CYgkxGEjHw3FAeFwoifL8-Wo2vZuh9Fgz-4em_D_r941i-OC3rgz2DLQ/w640-h448/2017%20Vendor%20Civetta%20Barocco%20More%20colors.jpg" width="640" /></a></p><p>I know, I know, another release? Has it been a year already? No, I just stayed up late every night after the baby fell asleep because I realized that I had never just released a simple mesh version of the Civetta mask. There was the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Civetta-Curia/3103742">Civetta Curia</a>, the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Civetta-Musica-Mardi-Gras-Masquerade-Mask/5779614">Civetta Musica</a>, but where was just the Civetta? Gotta have those simple options.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFY_ff6VZ2-4TekfFFhQyMCpqQEkSheRBzdQ4Rv9Z6WXPJ0MmNZ93DqQB4JCY3lmmJuqvWqYUasNYaDz-RDygOXRpDxsmET84k1zBRvTq4fLVd7l131KO-FcHt8eyGdYngZjQmxKXhJNQed-MbdFgiNqDom8lE2Rca6ccn-6waD4g1W2rXnBZKmfCvdA/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Masks%20Civetta.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFY_ff6VZ2-4TekfFFhQyMCpqQEkSheRBzdQ4Rv9Z6WXPJ0MmNZ93DqQB4JCY3lmmJuqvWqYUasNYaDz-RDygOXRpDxsmET84k1zBRvTq4fLVd7l131KO-FcHt8eyGdYngZjQmxKXhJNQed-MbdFgiNqDom8lE2Rca6ccn-6waD4g1W2rXnBZKmfCvdA/w640-h448/2017%20Vendor%20Masks%20Civetta.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p><br />"Civetta", the Italian word for owl, is a nod to the shape of the mask and how it frames the eyes. What once was too simple to be exciting to my novelty starved brain is now totally in my lane for my current limited time budget. It too got the extra color treatment, and now my simple masks all have the same metal and color options. If I get a chance I might even update the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Farafallina-Simple-Masquerade-Super-Hero-Mask/3103709">Farafallina </a>to have metal options. Are you getting sick of the barocco masks yet? Maybe I'll do a version for that one too....</p><p><br /></p><p>In any case, it's nice to work on things again. </p><p><a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Illusions-Civetta-Mask/24824821">Civetta Mask: 125L</a><br /></p><p></p><p><a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Illusions-Civetta-Barocco-Mask/24824840">Civetta Barocco Mask: 325L</a></p>Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-24130284108579170772023-04-21T02:20:00.002-04:002023-04-21T02:20:34.264-04:00Columbina and Columbina Barocco<p>As you can imagine, this past year has gone by in a blur of diaper changes and sleepless nights as I adjust to motherhood, as well as settling in to our new home. Yet things have calmed down enough in the past month or so, that, with some help, I was able to make some time to make a new thing.</p><p>It's been a while, I had to blow the dust off of my programs and remember all of the hot keys. I decided to do something easy and quick that would still be very satisfying. Ever since mesh was released I kept saying to myself I'd make a run of simple, flexible, infinitely versatile basic mesh masks, but I kept putting them off to do more ambitious projects. Since saying I'm feeling unambitious lately is an understatement, this was a good opportunity to do just that. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEeb91zluJqXxh2IbK0tIdxONvP-sQzzyiRqebqp7eB4h0cZUXFgFo7grARoJH82gIwbkqAQfKQ9SCwVFna-uWNVMER88dRbxlvAY6tYilXS9RZIq-87BBiMNMXEkvwu1eZbVZ4HIr_lbZ06wcc2zCoBJZIEnkMQo9fue_e_Neoqdeo8Hq6lA1YaIiew/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Mezza%20Puro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEeb91zluJqXxh2IbK0tIdxONvP-sQzzyiRqebqp7eB4h0cZUXFgFo7grARoJH82gIwbkqAQfKQ9SCwVFna-uWNVMER88dRbxlvAY6tYilXS9RZIq-87BBiMNMXEkvwu1eZbVZ4HIr_lbZ06wcc2zCoBJZIEnkMQo9fue_e_Neoqdeo8Hq6lA1YaIiew/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Mezza%20Puro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRLsPzZtI-aJyJdfTXwxeoO5mNNLa9bz2xJrqJWXFtz2IULuI0qIMsPmO1H0oHoiksfPjzZJtmVemFyFYsM44ieSO0Ti4X-qqU-boAU0ges3eRMWU0IhvuMzpz2zgqpYnjOeSBvV1RHnp7zraOfB41Lnd1VdKXMm5VYqd7FyOti4rT-CyHZOkIebxQgw/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Columbina.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRLsPzZtI-aJyJdfTXwxeoO5mNNLa9bz2xJrqJWXFtz2IULuI0qIMsPmO1H0oHoiksfPjzZJtmVemFyFYsM44ieSO0Ti4X-qqU-boAU0ges3eRMWU0IhvuMzpz2zgqpYnjOeSBvV1RHnp7zraOfB41Lnd1VdKXMm5VYqd7FyOti4rT-CyHZOkIebxQgw/w640-h448/2017%20Vendor%20Columbina.jpg" width="640" /></a></div></div>Columbina is one of the classic characters from commedia dell'arte, her name meaning "little dove". She often poses as a love interest and the only functional intellect on the stage. The mask is elegant and characterized by the smooth line from nose to cheek and upswept sides. <p></p><p> I did warn everyone though that when I released the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Mezza-Barocco-Mask/14482800">Mezza Barocco</a> mask that I'd be using those pieces again.<br /><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrHcYr7wxZ5_r5NK4FM27gva88QNHM1_37Pw3OOrtW_ushbUQ3jVPIlW3iBZH740wAyaQXB6ynpQIvUK3zxh7SvburQ2OUf_2p0dBM_cI8iWubk2b99z2cFYyhQHauElv6YmfC9ZoPz2HEEuXnryO5jEf84V2I8xSZx5GmO2UD-7gllBSNSK70hQjLsw/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Columbina%20Barocco.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrHcYr7wxZ5_r5NK4FM27gva88QNHM1_37Pw3OOrtW_ushbUQ3jVPIlW3iBZH740wAyaQXB6ynpQIvUK3zxh7SvburQ2OUf_2p0dBM_cI8iWubk2b99z2cFYyhQHauElv6YmfC9ZoPz2HEEuXnryO5jEf84V2I8xSZx5GmO2UD-7gllBSNSK70hQjLsw/w640-h448/2017%20Vendor%20Columbina%20Barocco.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />Along with the <a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Bauta-Barocco-Mask/21660918">Bauta Barocco</a>, the Columbina Barocco offered a sumptuous way for me to capitalize on previous work done to make something new. It was something that I was able to put together in the time that I had, generously donated by my mother as she kept my rambunctious offspring at bay. Along with this, I realized I had another quick and easy project I could release with a bit of spit and polish. <br /><p></p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPB55C9YXaXPBAb8ESsArsWwp5nImdgM8IGMOkjh1CBkUtdioZYFhaocARE3LRXUxE8J7-_7TqystZ_nFcHNtP7PE6lE-v_766C37ZBr9rKU3qIoRwJqxTl0i3_tLADDV5NsTMjL6DUNjKm4yDjPuv-93ydLx3yKan-5X084kAr_iw_74etkTM6cfWhA/s750/2017%20Vendor%20Mezza%20Puro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPB55C9YXaXPBAb8ESsArsWwp5nImdgM8IGMOkjh1CBkUtdioZYFhaocARE3LRXUxE8J7-_7TqystZ_nFcHNtP7PE6lE-v_766C37ZBr9rKU3qIoRwJqxTl0i3_tLADDV5NsTMjL6DUNjKm4yDjPuv-93ydLx3yKan-5X084kAr_iw_74etkTM6cfWhA/w640-h448/2017%20Vendor%20Mezza%20Puro.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>Another basic mask was hiding all along underneath that Mezza Barocco. I cleaned up the textures a bit and added a gold and silver version, to match the others, and put that together as a simple, clean alternative. Can never have enough options, and of course the more basic mask shapes the better. Different shapes will look good on different faces! As always they are all modifiable, I still leave them unrigged so you can stretch and reposition them to fit your avatar's face, as long as it's vaguely anthropomorphic.</p><p> </p><p>While I had originally hoped to have these done in time to participate in Fantasy Faire, I decided to take the win of finishing anything at all. These masks are now for sale on the marketplace and in my in-world location at the Twilight. </p><p><a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Columbina-Mask/24697635">Columbina: 115L</a></p><p><a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Columbina-Barocco-Mask/24697634">Columbina Barocco 325L</a></p><p><a href="https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Illusions-Mezza-Mask/24697636">Mezza: 115L</a><br /></p>Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-39618407458863615432022-04-19T14:11:00.002-04:002022-04-19T14:11:40.957-04:00Spring update <p> Hi there everybody, </p><p> I'm sorry to say that while each year I endeavor to crawl out from my hidey hole and suspend my hiatus to celebrate Fantasy Faire with all of you, I will not be participating this year. As much as I would love to, some big real life changes have just occurred that preclude my having the time or energy to invest in it. For one, my husband and I just moved into a new home last month, which was the culmination of months of work getting our former house packed and ready for sale. For the other, we just had our first baby, born on April 2nd. As you can imagine, it's enough of a task to try to get some sleep and take a shower, let alone unpack boxes and settle in, that making a beautiful thing to share with you for the faire was just not going to happen. </p><p>Of course, I'm very happy for these changes in my life, so obviously I do not want you to worry about me. Even if my first life is taking priority, I don't want you to think I've forgotten you. I would still like to make something this year, even if it won't be happening this spring, and so I will aim for making something awesome and spooky for you all for Halloween. In the meantime I will be attempting to steal naps and time to eat where I can.<br /></p><p>Much love and happiness,</p><p>-Siyu<br /></p>Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-80319426115002600842021-04-22T00:08:00.003-04:002023-06-05T02:11:52.417-04:00Illusions @ Fantasy Faire 2021<div class="separator"><div class="separator" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><p>It's certainly been a year, hasn't it? I hope you and your loved ones have been staying safe, hiding inside, basking in the dim glow of LED screens staying entertained in quarantine. Once again I have come out of my own hole in the ground in order to release something for Fantasy Faire: the one event in Second Life I simply can't bear to miss. <br /></p><p>Are you guys sick of masks yet?</p><p>Well, I guess I could always make "I Survived a Pandemic" T-shirts, but I get the feeling you guys might like a mask better. <br /></p><p><br /></p></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidDRuJgq5y0iLS00SnwX4WgjhLrilwVOTVWL397Wj2Xs4RDIpMtxmK4VxVwvSz5pbVFq42ztqdeJFJDYX5tzT4ABRohfX-0vrDOXRpssF8465vVBUbfImHYOHkP93DMxj1UfEAFZZ1tPst/w640-h448/2017+Vaporbecco.jpg" width="640" /></div> </div><div class="separator" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">The Vaporbecco is my interpretation of the popular steampunk vision of the Plague Doctor mask. "Vaporbecco" literally means "steam beak" in (bad) Italian. I wanted to model the brass goggles, the machined metal beak tip, and of course everyone's favorite steampunk motif: rivets. In case you missed my old post about the <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2011/03/dottore-peste.html">Plague Doctor</a>, the distinctive beak shaped mask was developed in the time of the black death. They had the general idea that being around sick people was a bad idea, but they believed that the reason was because of "bad air" or "malaise". To protect themselves, doctors would clothe themselves in oiled robes and a mask stuffed with sweet smelling herbs. Rather than having the herbs right up against their faces, they created the beak shape for a pocket, and thus we have the eerie bird-like silhouette of the Dottore Pestere. For what was known about sickness at the time, it was a rather reasonably engineered piece of personal protective equipment.<br /></div><div class="separator" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Steampunk culture seems to have embraced the plague doctor, who might be seen seen as a tragic hero of a bygone era. It's sort of pirate themed so I've also put out a couple of my old pirate hats and the<a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2018/04/illusions-fantasy-faire-2018.html"> Niobium Alato mask</a> from 2018. I would love to have done more this year but truly real life is just kicking my butt. This year has been so crazy in a lot of ways, and has certainly kept me busy. As always I appreciate your patience, and I hope you enjoy this spooky and iconic mask in honor of the... (hopefully) unique experience that was 2020. </span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3rxO8HeJd27BCSV8cn6yZYudK5fgnkLBH2OqwpsqephmXZ9s5X0b4uDHHRbEDtMptA1p3WQP6K3lbFv3AxkpGtY1rMsqNgCGrhi1b4NYwr1AZ8NOi7Ob9ap10ffwKSJYO-8ERJfHXk-LN/s750/2017+RFL+Vaporbecco+Pink.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"> <br /></a></div>Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-19498982786180514142020-04-24T01:28:00.000-04:002023-06-05T02:12:03.465-04:00Illusions @ Fantasy Faire 2020 Oh hey there. <br />
<br />
With all that's going on in the world at the moment, I'm relieved and happy that Fantasy Faire is happening again this year. With so many of us having to stay home and avoid gatherings, Second Life can provide a way for people to come together and socialize safely. It's also a celebration of the fantasy genre in Second Life as well as contributing to Relay for Life, so of course I crawled out of my hole once again to make a few pretty things.<br />
<br />
It's been longer than I'd like to think about since I last released a Bauta, a classic Venetian mask that's long been a staple of Venetian Carnivale. I'm long due for a new rendition. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC9yKN63ewQiXN82PyqRpvOrHe-LnnkRM7gXWDpofUye0sIrVwnHEY0rbwy9tMPvEljf42Kkzcx609xmYqRpFLZQ51NOAQ3xE3sDOH-vMZ2-N-XEL1jvMdfGl_J68-QUtoBLj4x1mcDES1/s1600/2017+Vendor+Bauta+Mask.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC9yKN63ewQiXN82PyqRpvOrHe-LnnkRM7gXWDpofUye0sIrVwnHEY0rbwy9tMPvEljf42Kkzcx609xmYqRpFLZQ51NOAQ3xE3sDOH-vMZ2-N-XEL1jvMdfGl_J68-QUtoBLj4x1mcDES1/s640/2017+Vendor+Bauta+Mask.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Bauta has a unique shape that, when worn, actually changes and deepens the sound of your voice. So if you're out and about and up to some discrete debauchery, not only does the mask disguise your face, but your voice as well. Plus, you can drink wine while wearing it, which is a part of all good debauchery sessions. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj79mgnzDK7Gzev8sfiM919Zh_1pC730-LJ25rZgBfTiMEkQNtoNtCeMpUcVtGc_9gDB-gLeik2LuO0-qtR42kaE9ZhctR37PT6pgJXuBKtI-RU6tZBsuUf86gVNOVgmcKwXmlP1t2YtApf/s1600/2017+Vendor+Bauta+Barocco.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj79mgnzDK7Gzev8sfiM919Zh_1pC730-LJ25rZgBfTiMEkQNtoNtCeMpUcVtGc_9gDB-gLeik2LuO0-qtR42kaE9ZhctR37PT6pgJXuBKtI-RU6tZBsuUf86gVNOVgmcKwXmlP1t2YtApf/s640/2017+Vendor+Bauta+Barocco.jpg" width="640" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But of course I can't do anything so <i>plain</i> without elevating it with my favorite thing: curls and swirls. The Bauta Barocco might seem a bit familiar, because the <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2017/04/illusions-fantasy-faire-2017.html">Mezza Barocco</a> is kind of its sibling. I've been wanting to use the library of pieces I made for that mask for a while, so this project was a way to do that. I still intend to elevate a few more basic mask shapes with these details in the future, so you can expect more members of the family.... eventually.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7IalXKe3dR2sJYtcMT2spg8WAEVBgODrgMhI4acSXoEFL1dlnXQUKqpQKZwyEbvWfWAegYo_0cdjBVhNlKEN7u4tyK6AcR7t1BvnJwt8DA3ENmgxgILomxbk5bzb-Cu_f_y5C6gq854R2/s1600/bauta+diamonte.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="575" data-original-width="512" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7IalXKe3dR2sJYtcMT2spg8WAEVBgODrgMhI4acSXoEFL1dlnXQUKqpQKZwyEbvWfWAegYo_0cdjBVhNlKEN7u4tyK6AcR7t1BvnJwt8DA3ENmgxgILomxbk5bzb-Cu_f_y5C6gq854R2/s400/bauta+diamonte.jpg" width="355" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course, for Fantasy Faire, one needs to have an item that donates the proceeds to Relay For Life, The Bauta Diamonte is a classic pattern often found on Bautas, evoking Arlecchino (or more often known as Harlequin). I've also put out the <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2019/04/illusions-fantasy-faire-2019.html">Shikoba necklace</a> from last year out for just 25L.<br />
<br />
These items can be found at my Fantasy Faire stall on the gorgeous <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/FF%20Zodiac/31/150/74">Zodiac sim</a>. It's such a treat to once again be on Alia Baroque's build, as he always does a gorgeous job and I find our respective styles complement each other beautifully. I recommend exploring the entire sim, there are many details and picturesque views to enjoy.<br />
<br />

Since I'm still lurking on the outskirts of productivity, I've got another lovely thing this year to thank you guys for your patience.<br />
<br />
I knew I didn't want to miss the biggest fantasy event of the year, so when I was wondering what to make I thought about things I'd like to wear, both in real life and on SL. I actually made a pretty cool feather shoulder piece in real life for a costume, and it turned out pretty well, but on Second Life things can be... well, so much <i>more.</i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBh8YS4I_4DtRtC1FanqK2ZC1gq-fUh2EiO30JJi-KZdtPNnBlyT5_1pygeCNoQa5d0PBOP5NJlnvDZmVGXOxkUxm6zn3NcExiiradlFmzb5Sk3WYJ5hOiLCQxUbe-3tqI7gpNq5MZoeA8/s1600/2017+Vendor+Feather+Mantle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBh8YS4I_4DtRtC1FanqK2ZC1gq-fUh2EiO30JJi-KZdtPNnBlyT5_1pygeCNoQa5d0PBOP5NJlnvDZmVGXOxkUxm6zn3NcExiiradlFmzb5Sk3WYJ5hOiLCQxUbe-3tqI7gpNq5MZoeA8/s640/2017+Vendor+Feather+Mantle.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
So I made the feather mantle I wish I could make in real life! Hey, maybe some day I will, but in the meantime, Siyu will be rocking it and you can too. It comes in fits appropriate for either or a masculine or feminine avatar, but it's unrigged and modifiable because these days there are so many specialized shapes I wanted to play it safe. It's scripted to texture change with three ribbon colors and twelve colors of my new feathers. I'm really enjoying the new textures and shapes and I'm looking forward to finding more projects for them.<br />
<br />
Speaking of, when one of my friends saw the new feathers, he made a great suggestion for a simple pendant. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPZj4RCwGd3Vk-lWE_IpiZwhLEnka7bEzCyvbNq7RYrYiADIAbrVkdIltNFxXx2AyMTkPF5RaDEOIAsh-RZ2xeYZI2EXgXdzkN4HAAsCMc8Zn5sS7opUiDYY-U6VFpGZbAQT1Nv4MCaPTT/s1600/RFL+Vendor+Shikoba+Necklace.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="575" data-original-width="512" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPZj4RCwGd3Vk-lWE_IpiZwhLEnka7bEzCyvbNq7RYrYiADIAbrVkdIltNFxXx2AyMTkPF5RaDEOIAsh-RZ2xeYZI2EXgXdzkN4HAAsCMc8Zn5sS7opUiDYY-U6VFpGZbAQT1Nv4MCaPTT/s640/RFL+Vendor+Shikoba+Necklace.jpg" width="568" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Shikoba is my RFL gift this year, which means "feather" in Choktaw. The feathers are scripted to change texture so you can have the full range of colors that are available on the mantle in the pendant. Along with the pendant, due to a friendly reminder from a customer recently, I've decided to put out a couple of old RFL masks as well for 50L each (the <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2013/04/illusions-fantasy-faire-2013.html">Sparrow and Chickadee</a> masks).<br />
<br />
These are all available <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/FF%20Midas/180/101/81">at my booth on Midas</a>, the gorgeous Mediterranean inspired sim by Alia Baroque. It's a privilege to be on one of his sims again, he always does such a beautiful job!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Fantasy Faire runs from April 18th to May 5th, and if you love fantasy items and themes in Second Life, or you're just an aficionado of cool sims and creative builds, don't miss it!Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-55378546891070115632018-04-18T01:47:00.000-04:002023-06-05T02:12:24.293-04:00Illusions @ Fantasy Faire 2018Crazy how a year flies by yet again, huh? <br />
<br />
I haven't forgotten Second Life, but I definitely have been neglecting it. I never officially quit or thought of myself as retired, though I guess that's effectively what happened. However, I haven't given up on it or myself as a creator. I'm wary of saying I'm going to be more active but it's something I'd like to do.<br />
<br />
If anything could pull me back in world though, it's Fantasy Faire. How am I supposed to miss the biggest fantasy event in Second Life? <br />
<br />
Despite my real life keeping me pretty busy (and so many video games I would rather be playing...) I made a lovely new thing for you guys. One item a year, that's better than no items right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhuxeeaZtGmlFwba-pS-qfwTzKfwkJMG1mcyQJb3pk5U8RDbHxniL1wEyHxYl8ztRarffmUkeuD4OwSvwSHvj_QtfRtyQDUaqBtgiIS7zz3ddvMXB5d9JriqpW1LMeSXPY_D-3mj9MGqQG/s1600/2017+Vendor+Fealuin+Necklace.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="525" data-original-width="750" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhuxeeaZtGmlFwba-pS-qfwTzKfwkJMG1mcyQJb3pk5U8RDbHxniL1wEyHxYl8ztRarffmUkeuD4OwSvwSHvj_QtfRtyQDUaqBtgiIS7zz3ddvMXB5d9JriqpW1LMeSXPY_D-3mj9MGqQG/s640/2017+Vendor+Fealuin+Necklace.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
When I showed my friends this necklace, multiple people said it kind of reminded them of a fairy, and someone said it especially reminded them of Navi from Zelda. In honor of Navi, I've named this necklace "Fealuin", which is Quenya for "blue fairy". Of course it's texture change, and on my fancy new vendor you can see all of the colors available right there. This necklace also includes a slightly simpler version without the hanging chains on the sides because I know you guys love options.<br />
<br />
I was at least true to my word (a year ago, lol) that I was going to swap vendor systems. I've been working with the MG vendor system to convert a few items over. Loyalty points will now be automatic and not require any use of a card, and demo items can be gotten directly from the vendor itself. I can also offer automated redelivery now as well as a gifting, so I will be swapping over to selling items that are copy only. The only issue is that I need to box up all of my items which has always been a bit annoying to me, but I'm trying to make it convenient for you guys by making the box an unpacking HUD that just needs to be worn once and gives you a folder automatically.<br />
<br />
The new vending system does mean that your old loyalty points will no longer be valid. Unfortunately there's no way that I can import your card information, the old system just didn't allow for that. I stopped selling angel cards a year ago in anticipation of this but I know a lot of you guys are old school and probably still have your cards. I don't have <i>too</i> much faith in my getting everything swapped over that quickly, so I just recommend using your balance in the next couple of months on something you might like. <br />
<br />
<br />
Anyway, another part of Fantasy Faire are items for RFL to raise money for the American Cancer Society. This year, I felt rather colorful and so I've made Niobium versions of a couple old favorites.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

She's been wanting to do a project together for almost as long as I've known her, which at this point is something like 8 years! I usually had my own projects I wanted to work on so things just got put off, I guess. This time, since I was having so much trouble finding inspiration she plopped me down in front of some concept art and pointed to it and said "make this".<br />

She put out her "gelf ears" not long ago and wanted some jewelry for them, and since I did jewelry for my own elf ears she knew I'd be up for the task. The concept art that she showed me was of an elegant elf with little lanterns dangling from her ears. Since Selos simply can't NOT have glowies on something in her store, I could see where she found the appeal. I made the lanterns and then finished off with a few of my piercings from my Lunarian earring set.<br />
<br />
The vendors are hers but they're set to split profits, so you can find them in either my or her stall at Fantasy Faire.<br />
<br />
Speaking of which, I needed an RFL item, as part of the terms of signing up for Fantasy Faire are to offer up two items for charity. I chose an old hunt gift that I had made and then never sold that still looked pretty good in my opinion. I know it's not <i>new</i> but it's at least something that wasn't really available. It looks good in purple! There's also one available in black.<br />
<br />

<br />
Again, these items are available at my store at Fantasy Faire on <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/FF%20The%20Rose/135/114/77">The Rose</a> sim for its duration. It's a beautiful place, you should absolutely visit just to see if not to shop!Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-76303639348769289542017-04-20T20:31:00.000-04:002023-06-05T02:12:35.591-04:00Illusions @ Fantasy Faire 2017It's been almost exactly a year since my last post... that's a bit sobering. However, I'm alive, and well, and my life has finally been configuring itself in to something that looks like it could maintain me being more (aka, at all) active on SL again.<br />
<br />
My long time friend Selos Dae has both nudged me gently and shoved me stubbornly in the direction of getting back into making things, and she convinced me to sign up for Fantasy Faire this year. It's an adjustment, coming back and seeing all of these new conventions and revelations and things that have changed while I've been gone (bento? mesh heads?!) but within the overwhelming unfamiliarity there have been some moments of amazing warmth. As I poke my head meekly back into the world, everyone I've spoken to has been more than welcoming and kind. Honestly, I'm surprised you guys remember me at all, yet I've had people enthusiastically greet me and tell me they're happy to see me. When I express guilt and sadness that I haven't been able to make anything in such a long time, they've said that if I even have one new thing they're happy for me.<br />
<br />
That makes me especially relieved, because that's literally all I have. One new thing. Well, that and a new vendor design.
<br />
<br />

<br />
The Mezza Barocco is a mask I've been working on for a while now. I told myself to get back into things slow and work on something that I love: curls and swirls. I adore the baroque carved plaster style of certain traditional Venetian masks and I just went wild with this one. Lots of iterations of different pieces and shapes and refinement have ended up with me having quite a library of little baroque pieces I look forward to peppering into other creations.<br />
<br />
The new vendor design is inspired by the minimalist look I'm noticing with a lot of my contemporaries. I actually really like it, I love doing detail work and having so much of the space of the image focused on just my creations feels decadent. I also wanted to simplify things and just go ahead and show color options right there on the vendor image. I think this will work great on the marketplace and on wherever I end up in world.<br />
<br />
I want to re-work my in world vendors to use a new system (one that does automatic loyalty points and re-delivery) but one thing at a time. For now, I made a thing. I think it's a pretty thing. It's at Fantasy Faire, if you care to <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/FF%20The%20Rose/135/114/77">join me there</a> ♥<br />

<br />
This month I've been away from my sexy desktop computer with all of my programs, visiting my grandmother who's not doing so well. My mother sent me down to visit with her because it looks like she'll be needing live-in assistance, and in the meantime I'm it. I might even be moving down here depending on how things go, as we're looking for a more long term solution. Unfortunately, there was no secret stash of unfinished projects that I could polish up and get ready in time for the faire before I left.<br />
<br />
I haven't given up on Second Life, or forgotten about you guys. I could make excuses and say that moving out of my apartment, moving into a new place, relationship changes and travel have been getting in the way, (and they have), but I know that's not the only thing that's been keeping me away. I need to find the joy in building things again. I've been messing around with crochet and knitting, cooking and music, but I know that those are just outlets for a stream of creativity that's gotten dammed up from stress, bad memories and internal pressure. I need to clear away that blockage so I can make beautiful things for you guys, and for myself, because there's still no medium that can compare with the freedom that 3D modeling has given me. Second Life is a fantastic place to express myself, where I can share my creativity and get your support in return. <br />
<br />
I miss being a content creator. I want to come back. I'm working on it.<br />
<br />
I'm amazed that you're reading this to be honest, but since you are, thanks. Thanks for not giving up on me <3 Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-39057589379013763162015-09-12T16:07:00.002-04:002023-06-05T02:12:48.427-04:00"Roberts" Leather TricornI was looking through some of my project folders recently and realized that I had very nearly finished another hat for Fantasy Faire, but had never gotten around to releasing it! So in this long sea of inactivity, here's a little island of distraction for you to enjoy.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ-ijp-uW0ueQBHZtLHZ77hJq7ba4Z1uh2sdkbxtzkA2t6Q1WHzsA4AbF7YNFAjwHMKppgPgr83fUUVQ9KhXGBG_CLii81u4Anoee7jP18FIsGmq1L_qDgdoZcG1tCcM7iuab6IqrOOv8c/s1600/Roberts+Tricorn+Hat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ-ijp-uW0ueQBHZtLHZ77hJq7ba4Z1uh2sdkbxtzkA2t6Q1WHzsA4AbF7YNFAjwHMKppgPgr83fUUVQ9KhXGBG_CLii81u4Anoee7jP18FIsGmq1L_qDgdoZcG1tCcM7iuab6IqrOOv8c/s400/Roberts+Tricorn+Hat.jpg" width="355" /></a></div>
<br />
The "Roberts" leather tricorn is a hat for the most dreaded of pirates. Or those that simply want a durable and utilitarian hat that's stylish and rugged. It comes in a variety of tones, from raw leather to dark tanned and of course the usual black and white, and it also works with the <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2015/04/pirates-regalia.html">Octopoda</a> pin.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
You can find it out now at my (not so temporary at this point) store on <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Twilight/187/235/40">The Twilight</a><br />
<br />
<br />

I love masks, I love hats, I love jewelry and I love piratey things. Most of these things have seen some love from me in mesh, but as you well know, one of these things has seen a glaring omission. It was about time for another round of awesome pirate hats.<br />
<br />

<br />
"Chauncey" is a highly customizable felt tricorner hat with elegant ruffled trim and cording. Both the ruffles and the cording can be set to invisible, so you can have just the plain felt hat, or a felt hat with cording and no ruffles or whatever configuration you like. There are twelve felt hat colors, as well as eleven satin ruffle colors that match the felt and four trim colors (gold, silver, black, and white).<br />
<br />
However, I think it needs a bit more flair... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY6hrR4ocuGXDuXc_ohfw6RkDjZIlPnq_zpwewVm-P75yttg-81QnhTn0o0d_hG8LRrxMRGb5GlNR4x1Qcayo79QvAnyUIXjso-G62T_DCgao_mR2tMeEMZARKyMrUv-Uh_hE67tIbmzUW/s1600/Octopoda+Pendant.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY6hrR4ocuGXDuXc_ohfw6RkDjZIlPnq_zpwewVm-P75yttg-81QnhTn0o0d_hG8LRrxMRGb5GlNR4x1Qcayo79QvAnyUIXjso-G62T_DCgao_mR2tMeEMZARKyMrUv-Uh_hE67tIbmzUW/s1600/Octopoda+Pendant.jpg" height="459" width="640" /></a></div>
Octopoda is the perfect pirate's accessory. It's the result of many hours of delicate detail work which was honestly really fun. I loved modeling the curling tentacles, the delicate baroque frame, all of the designing and modeling went really smoothly for it and it's been a very long time since something was this fun to work on. I think you can see it in just <i>how</i> detailed it is, if you scale it up to some ridiculous size only then do you see all of the work I put into it. Even small, though, it makes a perfect pendant for a pirate. It also comes with a brooch option, which by default fits to your tricorn, but you can put on your chest if you'd rather have it there. It comes in my usual selection of six different metal textures (bronze, gold, copper, and sterling, antiqued, and tarnished silver).<br />

I was aiming for that lovely cross between Elven and Celtic, using my favorite thing of course: swirls.<br />
<br />
I wasn't sure at the time if I was going to add anything to it, a headpiece or earrings or something, but I could sit on it for potentially months while wondering what to add to it. So, I might as well just release it for Fantasy Faire and let folks enjoy it while I wonder those things.<br />

<br />
Silumira, since I'm a nerd and actually looked this up, means "shining stone" in Quenya, the Elvish language of LotR. Sort of. I looked up the words for "shining" and "stone" and put them together. I don't know, I don't speak Quenya. <br />

I won't go into details but there was a lot of RL stuff that made working impossible or incredibly slow. But I knew I couldn't miss Fantasy Faire, so in the month or so leading up to Fantasy Faire I got a chance to do some work on something other than architecture.<br />
<br />
Illusions can be found on the magical <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/IchiGo%20IchiE/59/103/43">Ichi-go Ichi-e </a>sim, built and sponsored by the talented folks behind The Looking Glass. For the most part, there are familiar items out, however, there are and will be a few new things up.<br />

For Relay For Life, I decided to put up a couple of masks that were formerly event exclusives to my <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-unseelie-ball-2012.html">Unseelie Ball</a> and <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-luminous-masque-2013.html">Luminous Masquerade</a>. I hope no one has any objections, since it's for charity and will only be available for the duration of Fantasy Faire. <br />

The Lunaria mask has a tintable glow layer that allows you to customize it, and both masks are unisex and able to be stretched and fit to your avi's face whether you're male or female. They're unscripted, but modifiable.<br />
<br />
There's also something new out at the faire right now, but I'll cover that in another blog post. Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-20645789110367082122014-07-06T21:26:00.000-04:002014-07-06T21:42:18.427-04:00Nara PendantWork on the sim has been irregular, I had an unfortunate spat of "I hate everything!" and tore stuff up to redo and then got overwhelmed and then collapsed with some ice cream so I said to myself... Let's take a break.<br />
<br />
We Heart Roleplay is a nice way to get me out of my funk and keep me making something new even when everything is telling me <i>"you know, you should be working on your sim right now</i>" and I can say "no! I signed up for this so I get to work on something fun!"<br />
<br />
Jewelry is a nice compromise between working on something that needs to be done ASAP and yet I can't stand to work on, and doing something new, because by its nature it has a limit to the scale of the project. I can't get stuck on it or carried away too far so it's nice to have something that's relatively "easy" time wise. People have asked for more jewelry using my new stones, so I'm happy to oblige. So for this month's We Heart Roleplay I've put out a new pendant I've called Nara.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjluDowWvf1-D_AkIg9Xkpr2iGf-eXd4lgctV9_8GmgzfQZQIt5yWSxn5RBFs2RH-haWpAP1TxrpvQJ8aP4VvsAFarmOX29CHOE1pmJMBJ8uRZ5afTxjIiJhPEVjSoBEQJliN6D6aiyBOtc/s1600/Nara+Pendant.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjluDowWvf1-D_AkIg9Xkpr2iGf-eXd4lgctV9_8GmgzfQZQIt5yWSxn5RBFs2RH-haWpAP1TxrpvQJ8aP4VvsAFarmOX29CHOE1pmJMBJ8uRZ5afTxjIiJhPEVjSoBEQJliN6D6aiyBOtc/s1600/Nara+Pendant.jpg" height="459" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
While looking for elven jewelry for inspiration I came across a talented Deviant Artist named <a href="http://drakonaria.deviantart.com/gallery/4718904/Jewellery">Drakonaria</a>. She beautifully balances showcasing a stone with having intricate and engaging settings, and I love all of her swirls and curls because, if you hadn't noticed, I'm obsessed with swirls and curls. If you hadn't noticed this, I don't think you've been to my store. Inspired by that balance, I decided to see if I could make my own and I'm very pleased with the result.<br />
<br />
Nara is available at 25% off its sale price at <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Evanda%20Island/149/39/4002">We Heart Roleplay</a> through the month of July.<br />

In the meantime, I got into <a href="http://weloveroleplay.weebly.com/">We ♥ Roleplay</a> for June. Since I needed something new, it gave me the opportunity to make a variation on the Joker and Jolli I had planned since the start. When I originally made them, I had wanted to make a "musica" version as well. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHNTp-vbbkBfTGGTLWtQ1uMcNsSFDNhCEpFRhASTqAYyt3lyIm0gzu0ND_5VgB7AcVCqo0tkgcGc63GW_V5DrdI-ccIMphkAwuRlM0XGZbjIIKw9NPPc0i9Dv7dMI7AQmQweO7CknbKlD7/s1600/Jolli+Musica.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHNTp-vbbkBfTGGTLWtQ1uMcNsSFDNhCEpFRhASTqAYyt3lyIm0gzu0ND_5VgB7AcVCqo0tkgcGc63GW_V5DrdI-ccIMphkAwuRlM0XGZbjIIKw9NPPc0i9Dv7dMI7AQmQweO7CknbKlD7/s1600/Jolli+Musica.jpg" /></a></div>

<br />
They look so sinister with the eyes hidden, which is one of the things I love about them! That's an option you can toggle on and off with the other Joker and Jolli masks as well, and it adds a certain mystique to them. <br />
<br />
They're currently only available at We ♥ Roleplay, and for 25% off of their price! You can pick them up for 400L each, and they include my usual metallic selection of colors which includes sterling, antiqued and tarnished silver, and bronze, copper and gold.<br />

I've been sitting on my event masks for that party, working on colors and tweaking them mercilessly.<br />
<br />
I like to do traditional Venetian masks for Mardi Gras, and this is no exception. This year, I decided to do Joker and Jolli masks!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyxeX-pOP3I0HxHJmGR8wmTVRXEAmZ4rSnf7DL6qIqB1p_iTTKpWt4934IPTrZ3-5mswbfjKI2swhh8vNkFTRS1TAIA3qOy86ehOioCe8B9oKneOjeMyOTQislHsN13tzkFKJ2e6e_d0Io/s1600/Illusions+Jolli+Mask.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyxeX-pOP3I0HxHJmGR8wmTVRXEAmZ4rSnf7DL6qIqB1p_iTTKpWt4934IPTrZ3-5mswbfjKI2swhh8vNkFTRS1TAIA3qOy86ehOioCe8B9oKneOjeMyOTQislHsN13tzkFKJ2e6e_d0Io/s1600/Illusions+Jolli+Mask.jpg" /></a></div>
The jester motif is a popular one amongst mask makers. It's playful, ornate, and beautiful but irreverent. It's based on the medieval tradition, the crest emulating the classic "ass's ears" hats of jesters. They often have a chin piece as well that emulates a pointed collar, however I felt it would be awkward when actually worn by an avatar so I didn't bother.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4E2uKCi1z32XQeCqeHd930madYRRlnPEvZmPD8m0nWxVU2uiaf-IJCj9nMFaJ1RAiVt_VY0e2aO2fQO1q96_mrcpWQnFnda2ncWeyUbmJqoduwz6RgRlGXWnjJuQIaBmiX3U4N1RAFJfl/s1600/Illusions+Joker+Mask.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4E2uKCi1z32XQeCqeHd930madYRRlnPEvZmPD8m0nWxVU2uiaf-IJCj9nMFaJ1RAiVt_VY0e2aO2fQO1q96_mrcpWQnFnda2ncWeyUbmJqoduwz6RgRlGXWnjJuQIaBmiX3U4N1RAFJfl/s1600/Illusions+Joker+Mask.jpg" /></a></div>
The male version was a pain in the ass's ears! I completely remade this guy from the ground up after the party. I had a lot of trouble balancing the exaggeration and stylization I wanted with my natural instinct to try and make things more realistic and flattering. The first mask I didn't take far enough, and some other pieces that ended up on the chopping block went too far. This, I feel, is a good balance. I wanted it to be sly, mischievous, almost evoking a goblin. <br />
<br />
Both of these masks easily change from being playful and whimsical to rather mysterious and sinister with the "eye blanks" I put in. I made it so you can have the option of blacking out your eyes, and it makes for a spooky effect:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFGDcE7h7sREyu68KnilyHcmvOEKBiGRq94PSkEjV5G0DekDnp5VXZtJNvL5tJtlSBL4x5DIFu9EOy_CAF034sQtIBMjJ6dzUVPOhOgJljdtMXGTZ8tY_WUA9VfikQVvC71MKbYEJ7Humg/s1600/joker.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFGDcE7h7sREyu68KnilyHcmvOEKBiGRq94PSkEjV5G0DekDnp5VXZtJNvL5tJtlSBL4x5DIFu9EOy_CAF034sQtIBMjJ6dzUVPOhOgJljdtMXGTZ8tY_WUA9VfikQVvC71MKbYEJ7Humg/s1600/joker.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I went overboard on the colors for these, doing nine colors for each color accent (gold and silver) as well as three extra colors each which are mixes, like gold, green and purple for mardi gras!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA2TE99MnolBDgR7hiUY8tK3nVBkLItc2DV3tQjU5b8K6s3CQlcZJQaYCORx7RX-hL-st9z61NxfpO3wscWMDxqv3DIiilnwERGdEHc6LReArXTbuk_jQfQGOaenAgZ2Im3e586s0-f2EI/s1600/Illusions+Jolli+Colors.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA2TE99MnolBDgR7hiUY8tK3nVBkLItc2DV3tQjU5b8K6s3CQlcZJQaYCORx7RX-hL-st9z61NxfpO3wscWMDxqv3DIiilnwERGdEHc6LReArXTbuk_jQfQGOaenAgZ2Im3e586s0-f2EI/s1600/Illusions+Jolli+Colors.jpg" height="400" width="395" /></a></div>
I especially love how the texture for the crest came out. I printed on that luscious damask with alphas in Zbrush and it was so worth it. I also utilized specular and normal maps to bring up the details so the damask shimmers a little and the metallic trim on the mask shines when the light catches it. Have I mentioned how much I love having specular and normal maps?<br />
<br />
Anyway, the mask is currently available at Fantasy Faire, and on the marketplace. It'll be out at my store on Carnivale after the faire is over!<br />

Fantasy Faire is open! <br />
<br />
This year, Illusions can be found on the astoundingly beautiful <a href="http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sanctum/53/179/77">Sanctum</a> sim by Alia Baroque. I specifically requested to be moved here and made sure it happened because when I saw a preview of the sim build it felt just like home!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfUzV_axrWbiinjblkYM0IZo67mDlh6xnWpXU2_L-Z_anrRnjXYkzT7FN_qQhMbX9zKTbhQ0_x6yQTbY4vojDINwryPGqKJjM3L3Ro9jONpN3U2rCSgDgsYdd6vXoOedqWbGi6FvqEZTge/s1600/Sanctum+Store+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfUzV_axrWbiinjblkYM0IZo67mDlh6xnWpXU2_L-Z_anrRnjXYkzT7FN_qQhMbX9zKTbhQ0_x6yQTbY4vojDINwryPGqKJjM3L3Ro9jONpN3U2rCSgDgsYdd6vXoOedqWbGi6FvqEZTge/s1600/Sanctum+Store+2.jpg" height="368" width="640" /></a></div>
Columns? Arches? Cathedral ceilings and beautiful stone edifices? Where else would I be! Alia has really outdone himself and done a beautiful job. If the other sims are as lovely as this I can't wait to explore. I've been holed up working last minute on things and haven't gotten a chance to look around.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2dnYP0SRUJhr7IA04TZUwCeYE5Iov2Ndm0liurEqnuzCls6VEiwqiVJaeubvvjsnf0eyF-e_Fbh06lqkNM-lXkTAdyG3NQuIb6ca8tbvjcoGo_n8ZpQknQmZ3Q7eukdYqbLZCQCzzNi6F/s1600/Gold+Alato+Mask.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2dnYP0SRUJhr7IA04TZUwCeYE5Iov2Ndm0liurEqnuzCls6VEiwqiVJaeubvvjsnf0eyF-e_Fbh06lqkNM-lXkTAdyG3NQuIb6ca8tbvjcoGo_n8ZpQknQmZ3Q7eukdYqbLZCQCzzNi6F/s1600/Gold+Alato+Mask.jpg" height="400" width="355" /></a></div>
<br />
For RFL, I've put out a special metallic version of my <a href="http://masklady.blogspot.com/2014/04/alato-mask.html">Alato mask</a> in gold as well as silver. They'll only be available for a limited time during Fantasy Faire, and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. They're only 95L, so you have no excuses not to nab one!<br />
<br />
I hope if you find yourself the time you'll come join us at the fair, and if you end up on Sanctum come find my store! <br />

I'm both excited and sad to share this news with you, as it makes the closure of the sim solid reality. I'm pleased with the deal we've struck though, and I can tell you that it's going to a kind person who agreed to my terms and who is a fan of my work. The build will be cleared with the transfer, but it gives me comfort at least to know that it wasn't going to a a "Rockefellian" land baron.<br />
<br />
The official date of the transfer is <b>May 15th</b>. On that day, Carnivale will be closed, moved and transferred to its new owner. In the meantime, I'd like to announce the<i><b> Goodbye Carnivale Contest</b></i>.<br />
<br />
The rules are simple: take a picture or series of pictures on Carnivale. They can have a theme or not, they can be of people or not, but they have to showcase the build of Carnivale. The only other rule is nothing sexually explicit as the sim is rated G. Beyond that, your imagination is the only limit.<br />
<br />
What's your favorite place on the sim? Where did you used to love to sit with your friends? Where did you like to be while you shopped in the marketplace or wandered the halls? Where is your favorite memory?<br />
<br />
Submit them to the<a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/illusionstoresl/"> Illusions store group</a> on Flickr. I will be judging the pictures on May 15th, and awarding prizes of Angel Cards to my favorites. They'll range in value from 100L up to 1000L if something really blows me away!<br />
<br />
<b>On May 10th I will be throwing a <i>Goodbye Carnivale</i> party at 3pm SLT. </b>Wear whatever you like, we'll be there to see the sim off in style.<br />
<br />
I'm sad to bring this era of my Second Life to a close. But I'm excited to see what will happen in the next. Thank you for sharing this piece of my heart with me, and I hope you'll trust in me that I will make my new home even better. Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3927087014533594667.post-86175038258254795412014-04-24T17:25:00.001-04:002014-04-24T17:33:16.504-04:00About CarnivaleBack in 2007, I had an honest to goodness patron of my work. An extremely wealthy fan who loved my masks, gave me commissions, and even bought a sim to give me free reign of. For a while I had fun on my
completely rent free section of Second Life and I delighted in running
rampant with it. However, after a year or so that patron left Second Life, and left me the sim. Since then, I've been paying upkeep that I can't really afford and
trying to use rentals in order to help out with the cost. <br />
<br />
Things I've learned about myself are:<br />
<br />
• I am too much of a softie with my friends to actually enforce rent<br />
• I am too absent minded to keep track of who's renting when and for how
long or how much they've paid, even with a rental system<br />
• I am too lazy to keep an entire full size sim up to date with a build that suits my vision for it<br />
<br />
Simply put, I'm not getting $295 USD a month worth of value out of it,
and the pressure to do so is not something I want to deal with anymore.<br />

After letting my friends know about this, the wonderful Kala Bijoux stepped up and offered me a place on her grandfathered tier sim called the Winged Isle. I wasn't sure if I wanted to take it, since I know I'm a bit of a control freak and I didn't want to step on her toes, but she has promised me full creative control and is even open to changing the name to fit our new vision of it. My new costs for maintaining my store would be a mere fraction of the former and I would still have control to manifest my imagination.<br />
<br />
So Carnivale is officially for sale. I'm looking for someone who will pay the transfer cost of $100USD, or someone who might be interested in purchasing the sim with a custom build on it. If you're willing to buy my sim, I'm willing to build what you envision for it. Depending on the build the cost would vary, so I'd charge an hourly rate but you would have a build made by me from whatever concepts you provide.<br />
<br />
The only other condition I would have to ask, aside from the fee of the transfer, would be simply that you help Surreal and I redirect our traffic via a sign left up at the teleport hub. Not forever, but hopefully for a couple of months to help with the upheaval. If those terms sound amenable to you please feel free to contact me via IM, <a href="mailto:siyusuen@yahoo.com">email</a> or notecard.<br />

This probably won't be happening in an immediate time frame, more likely over a month or two, but you should take some time to enjoy the build on Carnivale while it's still there. Take a walk over the bridge, sit underneath the tree in the marketplace, maybe dance in the event hall. If I do find a buyer and set a date for the transfer, you can be sure there will be a party the night before!Siyuhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185352523262524227noreply@blogger.com0
